Craftsmanship Across the Board
David Longaker lives just outside Chicago in Glenview, Illinois. He competed in Special Olympics as a swimmer for a number of years in the mid 1990’s. His interest in woodworking started in high school when he took several woodworking classes and learned the basics of furniture construction. While working on an Associate’s degree at Oakton Community College, David set up his own woodworking shop at home where he began exploring other areas of woodworking and creating items which he markets at local craft fairs. He is a member of AAW, The International Association of Pen Turners and has spent time teaching pen turning at local high schools representing the Chicago Woodturners Club. David has been attending classes at MASW since 2011 and over the last decade has taken many classes with a concentration in woodturning. He completed an internship at Marc Adams in 2018 and will complete the MASW Masters program in 2021.
