Working with Tinplate Steel: Making Useful Containers & Accessories with Kitty Latané August 22-26, 2022

In this class students will learn to cut tin following patterns. Demonstrations will include form and fold, creating mechanical bonds and/or solder, which will make a variety of items, including a pierced tin lantern. Students will work with stakes and hand tools, however some 19th century tin working machines will be introduced. The beginning projects will include a candle sconce, a tin cup and a lidded container. Several days will be spent making a pierced tin lantern with a bail handle and a hinged door.
