Segmented Turning with Malcolm Tibbetts September 12-16, 2022

Segmented woodturnings have a high degree of “How’d he do that?”. This class is designed for both accomplished “segmenters” as well as beginners. Students will be guided in creating their own designs. All students will not be doing the same type of vessel; instead they will be encouraged to attempt a variety of techniques. Malcolm will teach much more than just the basics of this fascinating art form. Topics will include complex “feature-ring” construction, portholes, segmented spheres, ribbons, and advanced segmented sculpture. Class time will include of a blend of PowerPoint presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and supervised project building. At first glance, segmented woodturning can be quite intimidating, but once you know and understand the process, it can become a very rewarding activity.
