Post & Beam Construction with Patrick Moore August 1-5, 2022

This hands-on class is designed to teach students the fundamentals of structural timber framing. As a class, students will team build a structure on the MASW campus that can be enjoyed by students, staff and visitors for years to come. Patrick will begin with an overview of joinery and terminology utilized in timber frame construction and the tools necessary to do the job. From there, the actual building process begins. Students will learn the two main methods of layout, “Square Rule” and “Scribe Rule” and will incorporate both on the same project. Patrick encourages students to come and learn an age-old tradition of carpentry and participate in the construction of what will become a timeless part of MASW history. By the end of the week students will leave with confidence and knowledge to tackle any backyard shelter or timber framed structure with success.
