Making Woodturning Tools & Accessories with Alan Lacer October 22-23, 2022

In this hands-on class Alan will take students through the process of making several shop-made woodturning tools and accessories. Specific projects will include making at least four of the following: awl, two variations of hook tools, interchangeable tool handle, thin-kerf parting tool and chatter tool. Alan will demonstrate both hot and cold working methods of tool making, specifics of steel selection and heat-treating methods. In addition, he will demonstrate the making of two shop-made reverse chucking jigs for doing the bottoms of bowls. The underlying theme is that using only a lathe and drill press, a woodturner can create a variety of metal working projects.
