Easy CNC Programming for Your Daily Woodworking Tasks with Bjorn Rettig June 13-17, 2022
This course is for anyone interested in expanding their woodworking capabilities through the power of a CNC machine. Whether trying to decide if a CNC machine is a good investment or if you already own one, this class will show how useful and easy a CNC is to use and can be integrated into any project. The class will utilize different software tools to work on projects. If students bring their own laptop and software they can follow along, but it’s not a requirement. Students will learn how to cut parts in 2D, one of the most common uses of CNC machines. This will include how to cut high precision templates for complex woodworking projects on your CNC (or how to outsource it). Students will learn registering and flip cutting and a method of cutting objects that are deeper than your CNC would allow. A highlight of the class will be the cutting of woodworking joints – let’s see if we can cut a Marc Adams Joinery class joint with extreme computer precision. With all these skills, the students will then work on a small box with an inlaid top or engraved letters. A CNC class wouldn’t be complete without students learning about rapid prototyping in foam, cutting aluminum, or engraving brass and acrylic.
