There is no better way to celebrate that special occasion, holiday, retirement, anniversary, or birthday than to give a Marc Adams School of Woodworking gift certificate. It’s easy to do! She will send you (or the recipient) a very attractive gift certificate and copy of our brochure.

2012 EXCELLENCE THROUGH EDUCATION AWARDS

Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, Fine Woodworking magazine, Franklin International, and Kreg are all powerhouse leaders in the field of woodworking. Thanks to their commitment to perpetuate the craft of woodworking, they have developed a scholarship program open to any woodworker with the desire to excel.

Winners receive tuition to their class of choice (value of $695) and hotel expenses ($305 allowance), for a total winning value of $1,000. There will be two Honorable Mention Awards of $200 each, credited toward the class of the winners’ choice. Three categories are available: professional, amateur and women only.

All types of woodworking projects are eligible: chairs, furniture, turning, carving, sculpture, scroll saw work, veneer, musical instruments, toys, etc. You may enter up to three pieces of work, with two additional detailed photos of each piece. Entries will be judged on craftsmanship, design, and the detailed description of the piece. Designs do not have to be original to win. ANY ENTRIES THAT HAVE WON PREVIOUS AWARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

•• Scholarships are good only at MASW and must be used the year that they are awarded. Scholarship winners will be allowed in the class of their choice as long as the class is not sold out. Winners should select several class choices. Failure to abide by any of the rules will result in automatic disqualification.

JOHN C. COOLIDGE MEMORIAL AWARD

John C. Coolidge attended MASW from 1996 until his death in August 2003, and was well known for the rubber chicken that adorned his shop apron and the jester hat that he wore nearly every day. John was from a well-established East Coast family—a family that included a president of the United States. He was an attorney from Orange, MA, and worked very hard in local charities. John was a great friend, a great leader, and a true torchbearer for MASW. It is with great honor that the Masters of the school, most of whom knew John, have banded together to present an annual award to someone completing the Masters program who has overcome adversity and personal challenges. Recipients are chosen based on perseverance, effort, attitude, and ability. They receive a Bridge City Tool Works CS 12" combination square and a crystal plaque.

THE ROGER CLIFFE MEMORIAL FUND

I’m proud and humbled to announce that our alumni, through generous and unselfish gifts, were able to help several students fulfill their dreams and improve their lives as woodworkers, which will someday improve our craft. What a difference a few dollars can make. Together we help change lives—thank you for your generosity!
With the help of several alumni, we have formed a nonprofit organization that accepts contributions. The money will be distributed by a board of trustees to candidates who apply before April 5, 2012. If you know someone who could benefit or if you would like to help the cause, please contact:
