We consider ourselves lucky to have welcomed a new woodturning instructor to our lineup this year, with the addition of Al Stirt. Al shared his obvious expertise in turning bowls and platters, as well as his techniques for design and decoration of these turned masterpieces with a lucky group of students. Check out some of the great bowls and platters they created in this jam packed week!
Our school was founded on the idea that everyone benefits when you learn to take your skills to the next level and our "Details: Taking Your Work to the Next Level" class gives you hands-on experience with many of the techniques that can do just that! Check out some of the details that Marc Adams uses to elevate his own work in this informative class...
This weekend included three great classes. We enjoyed hosting "Chip Carving with Herman Bueno", "Parent/Child Making a Skateboard/Longboard With Chris Gochnour", and Using Color and Faux Finishes to Embellish Your Turnings with Matthew Hill.
Matthew Hill's woodturning skills are only half of the story. The other half is the colors and textures that he adorns them with. This week, his students get to experience both, as they learn how to make these exquisite turned and decorated boxes themselves.
Chris Gochnour returns to MASW to share another project with our students. This time it's a gorgeous curved-front sofa table. Join his class as they step through the process of making this contemporary classic, using a judicious mix of hand and power tools.
Allan Breed is one of the nations best known period furniture experts and an acknowledged expert in 18th-century carving techniques, so who better to have teach our "18th-Century Carving: Shells, Fans, Foliage & More" class? His work is breathtaking and his instruction is first rate, as these lucky students found out, during their week with him.
