Tim Puro brings his real world experience to MASW as he steps through the process of restoring, not one, but many different types of furniture during this week. The benefit is his students not only get to refinish their piece; they get to leave with the knowledge of how to handle multiple refinishing issues!
This weekend we hosted "Classic Shop Stool with Chris Gochnour," "Guitar Building Methods II with John Ressler" and "Making 32mm Cabinets by Festool with Brian Sedgeley." That's another way to say "stuff got made!"
Stephen Proctor leads his class through his 2-week Apprenticeship class. It's a fast-paced tour of the art of designing and making furniture, while learning new skills and new ways of doing things along the way. Two weeks with Stephen is an ideal way to increase someone's mastery of the craft!
Michael's intricate tables, with expanding butterfly leafs, is one (of many) of his hallmark techniques for making modern tables suited for multiple configurations, with expanded design opportunities and enhanced functionality. This week long class gave a class of lucky participants the chance to build a table of their own with this wonderful detail.
Chris's expertise in using handtools to achieve an outcome that exceeds what's possible using just powertools, and in less time, was clearly on display during this week's class. His students got to hone their skills while they made a wonderful traditional chest for their tools to remind them of all they had learned.
This week's finishing class with David Smith was a great hands-on opportunity to conquer a wide range of water-based finishes while making the shop a safer and more enjoyable place to be. His students left with lots of cutting-edge knowledge and many new techniques to try at home.
