Revisiting "Developing the Idea with Michael Fortune"

Mark Gibbs working on another foamcore model...

So we were especially pleased when Michael forwarded some pictures of a completed table, conceived during the "Developing the Idea" class, by woodworker, Mark Gibbs. Since Michael's class was all about teaching the process that Michael himself uses to step through the creative process of furniture design, it's especially exciting to see the final product, as the last time any of us saw it, it was just a small foamcore model...

Here's what Michael had to say about his student, Mark Gibbs...

"Mark did an excellent job following the design sequence utilized in the class and has now taken one of the many designs he generated to the next level and he has completed an excellent table. The shape of the top combined with the veneer pattern works very well. The slight curve of the leg where it meets the floor makes the table appear animated. Along with the floating top it provides another design "surprise" as the viewer is examines the table."

So without any more delay, here are some pictures of Mark's completed project. And a hearty "Well Done!!" from all of us (staff and students) at MASW!

We'd love to see more pictures of your finished works in the future so don't be shy about sending them our way! Shoot them to markwithak@marcadams.com and maybe we'll feature yours in coming posts! Maybe even a "Student Gallery" [hint, hint]...

Keep making sawdust!
