Classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking
Making Bent Carving Knives with David Franklin
Dates: 5/16 - 5/17
Learn how to make your own carving tools with very basic equipment. Three bent knives and a straight carving knife will be made in this class, a basic yet versatile set of tools. These knives are traditionally used by native people of the Northwest but can now be found in all the major carving catalogues. These extremely sharp tools can do many of the same tasks as an array of chisels. In this class you will learn sharpening and some carving techniques with your new tools. Once you begin to carve with these tools, you will wonder what you did without them.
