The skew chisel is certainly one of the most challenging tools in woodturning (and perhaps in all of woodworking as hand tools go!). Alan will take students through the shaping, refining, sharpening, and honing of this versatile tool. Participants will then be shown and given the chance to practice at least 10 different cuts as used in spindle turning with a skew chisel. From there, everyone will be guided through a series of projects that get progressively more difficult--and using only skew chisels. Specific projects include doorstops, eggs, spinning tops, and tool handles. This class is open to anyone interested in developing his or her skill with the skew. Alan is known internationally as the "Son of Skew."

Key Points:

Shaping, sharpening and honing the skew chisel
Exercises covering at least 10 different cuts with the skew
Unique techniques for chucking small work
Make a variety of projects using only a skew chisel
Overcome your fear of this versatile tool

There is a $45 annual registration fee that will be added to your the total amount of the class if this is the first class you are registering for this season.
