Classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking
Edges and Inlays: Edge Details, Embellishments and Surface Decorations with Scott Grove
Dates: 5/2 - 5/6
This course is for anyone who wants to take their furniture to the next level; the objective is to add an incredible range of exciting edge and inlay possibilities for woodworkers. The class project is to design and create an organic form tabletop with an extreme French curved hardwood edge and “over the top” fine inlays. Various carved and profile edge treatments will be explored. “You don’t know where the edge is until you cross it,” Grove says and experimentation is encouraged. Fine inlays in various materials from wood, stone, metal and composite will be used to add just the right detail to your project. Each day Scott will discuss process, material selection, and alternatives (lots of them) for choosing the right technique and tool for each task, followed by plenty of hands-on practice. You will come away with a better understanding of how to embellish your work and take it to over the edge. Scott is an enthusiastic and high-energy craftsman and a great teacher - be prepared to push your limits.
