Decorative Veneering with Paul Schürch

Come and spend a week with Paul Schürch, one of the world's premier veneer experts. If you have attended veneer classes in the past or currently work with veneer, you will not want to miss this class. Student will learn history of veneer and marquetry and how it has developed into what it is today. Paul will discuss using raw veneer, ways to make veneer, handling, flattening, and buying, and there will be hands-on practice sessions in book, slip, reverse, diamond, and four-way matching. There will be demonstrations on starbursts, border work, parquet, edge work and marquetry which can be used for decoration. This class not only teaches traditional veneering techniques but also covers modern day veneer cutting, joining, assembly, and finishing techniques done in today's shop setting. Students will learn how to choose substrates and glues and practice preparing and pressing up veneer and marquetry. Paul specializes in using and mixing other mediums in his work, and he will show students his various technique uses for creating surface decoration.

There is a $45 annual registration fee that will be added to your the total amount of the class if this is the first class you are registering for this season.
