Deep Hollow Vessels: Creating & Embellishing with Steve Sinner
Dates: 4/22/2014 - 4/26/2014
Tool List: Click here for tool list
In this class students will begin by finishing two dry hollow vessels (provided by Steve) for each student, and then use them for practicing a number of surface decoration techniques. Each student will also utilize the high efficiency deep hollowing techniques to create one or more green vessels to be dried and finished later at home. This method allows the turner to complete the entire exterior shape of a vessel prior to beginning the hollowing process, which results in a high degree of control of the esthetics of the vessel. There is no obligation to complete a finished project during the class. Instead, the emphasis will be on discovery of a variety of techniques including gilding, patina, airbrush, and pen and ink. Special means of design, layout and masking will be explored accompanied by a constant dialogue of form, color, method, and personal growth. Learning how to easily apply a high gloss poly finish will enable the student to make his or her work stand out. Expect to return home excited by your new information and eager to develop your new skills.
There is a $45 annual registration fee that will be added to your the total amount of the class if this is the first class you are registering for this season.
