Classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking
Furniture Restoration, Repair and Refinishing with Tim Puro
Dates: 5/31 - 6/4
This workshop teaches the skills and techniques used by furniture restorers to make old furniture beautiful again. This class is a great opportunity for woodworkers who want to refinish their own furniture but don’t know where to start. Tim will help each student develop a restoration plan for the small piece of furniture they bring to class and then guide the students through the steps of removing the finish if necessary, performing repairs and ultimately applying a new finish to their furniture. Tim will include demonstrations on spot repair and touch up, how to disassemble and re-glue a chair and how to repair veneer. This class is always fun because of the variety of furniture projects students bring to the class. You’ll learn a lot just watching other students work on their furniture! At the end of the week, your project will be completely restored or you will be well on the way to having your furniture completed. If you want to learn the craft of furniture restoration, this class is for you. Note: The class is not limited to finishing old furniture. If you don’t have antiques to restore, bring some of your unfinished woodworking projects instead!
