Classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking
Designing Furniture That Makes a Difference With Scott Grove
Dates: 4/29 - 5/3
Tool List: Click here for tool list
This class is not your same old woodworking design course: the objective is to add an incredible range of exciting possibilities for woodworkers and push your aesthetic limits. It will be an intensive study of how to approach a design project through creative thinking, inspiration, sketching, model building, and refinement. Scott brings a wide range of alternative design skills to the table (or chair or box or bed), and he will get your creative juices flowing. Foam core model projects will be created each day that are derived from your own inspiration. Lectures, demonstrations and quick creative tasks will take place daily and will focus on students' individual interests and design directions. Experimentation will be emphasized, with a heavy dose of creative thinking, design and "crossing the line." Observation, personal expression, and studies in proportion, line and form will be promoted with plenty of one-on-one guidance.
This workshop is for anyone who wants to take his or her designs to the next level by pushing creative limits. "You don't know where the line is until you cross it," is Scott's basic approach, and experimentation is encouraged. Scott is an enthusiastic and high-energy craftsman and a great teacher, so be prepared to push your limits and get ready to light your creativity skills on fire.
