Masters Fellowship

In this 18th century carving class, Mack will base the exercises around carving "c"scrolls, volutes and their application as bordering elements and ornamental focal points for furniture. The designs will be useful ornament for crooked cornices, bracket feet, table skirts, piecrust tabletops, knee brackets, fretwork and many other occasions. The work will exercise the student's ability to control the profile of spiraling curves taking advantage of drawn patterns and carving tool design.

Optional treatments of the eye of the scroll - convex, concave
Desirable number of rotations in a given spiral
Creating interest with a variety of scale
Working with the grain in 360 degrees
Tool sharpening

There is a $45 annual registration fee that will be added to your the total amount of the class if this is the first class you are registering for this season.
